Finding the World's Greatest Money Managers
The world's greatest money managers have made investors a lot of money over time, regardless of market conditions. They've turned thousands into millions, and millions into much more. Isn't this the kind of talent you should have working for you? Using our proprietary methodology, we constantly screen the world's greatest available talent for our client's retirement and investment accounts. Portfolio managers who have proven themselves with great short term and long term track records.
In addition to equities and fixed income we also take a highly disciplined approach to assessing the quality, value and timing of a mutual fund investment. We focus only on no-load mutual funds with a strong track record of out-performance.
Our initial screens seeks to narrow the universe of funds (more than 8000) to those that meet our rigorous “best of breed” criteria. This includes screening for past performance, out-performance of category peers (i.e. differentiating between those managers that consistently outperform and those that have simply had a good, but uncharacteristic run), risk adjusted returns, low expense ratios, limited turnover, various Modern Portfolio Theory variables (alpha, beta, Sharpe ratio) and potential capital gains exposure.
From the pool of funds that pass our initial screens we focus on funds with a strategic, targeted and well-defined approach in place. Additionally, we assess the tenure of fund management, continuity of the investment team, management’s willingness to invest in the funds that they manage (“eat their own cooking”), fund expenses, portfolio composition, size and concentration of portfolio (“asset bloat”) and the independence of a fund’s board of directors.
Our objective is to find and utilize only the best funds available to our clients. Investments in these funds allow our clients’ access to top fund managers, as well as the opportunity to effectively and efficiently invest assets in a liquid, low cost and tax efficient manner, while maintaining desired levels of diversification. Funds are held until the underlying fundamentals for which we originally selected the fund have shifted or we identify a better investment opportunity elsewhere.
